He was born in Mérida-Venezuela on April 11, 1981.
He starts in the musical world as a singer, being ten years-old at the University of the Andes Children's Choir, at the same time; he begins to study music theory and Venezuelan cuatro at CUDA (University of the Andes Conservatory). He is quickly attracted to percussion and at 14 he takes lessons with the percussionist Eduardo Arellano for the following 3 years. However, his willingness to enhance his musical knowledge makes him go to Caracas to continue to study with the percussionist Omar Olviero. He also joins Javier Alarcon's Harmony, Composition and Arrangements Class.
Francisco Vielma also studied for two years at the Mérida Junior Symphonic Orchestra percussion class with the exceptional drummer and teacher Jerry Cárdenas; he is also a percussionist for the orchestra for 3 years. At the same time, he is a member of the "Ensamble Kimbandú", with whom he made research trips through the States Yaracuy, Carabobo and Zulia. As a percussionist he has taken musical clinics and Master Classes from Giovanni Hidalgo , Tatagüines, Horacio Hernández, Robbie Ameen, Luisito Quintero, Dave Samuel, Robert Quintero, Nené Quintero, among others. He also participated at the Seoul World Culture Open, South Korea, in 2004, where he performed as a percussionist for Prisca Dávila's band, a Venezuelan pianist; 34 countries made part of this event to show the diversity and richness of their cultures. In 2005, he participated in the multimedia mise en scène of "La sangre de Abel", play written by the playwright Anibal Guevara and it was shown from June 2 to 5, 2005.
He currently studies at University of Music and takes private lessons with Miguel Ángel Urbina and Vladimir Quintero, both percussionists. Even though he is very young, he has been involved in recording projects, tours and concerts with excellent musicians like Leonardo Blanco, Alfredo Naranjo, Pablo Gil, Víctor Cuíca, María Rivas, Johann Espinosa, Oscar Fanega, Luca Vicencentti, Carlos Sanoja, Gerardo Chacón, Prisca Dávila, Carlos Rodríguez, Giovanni Ramírez, Andrés Briceño, D'Cero, Alez Parra, among others. He currently manages along with drummer Diego Maldonado " Nuevas Almas World Jazz Ensemble" ; they are co-producing with the record label Cacao Música their first album, which includes songs written by them, and he also teaches percussion lessons at Taller Jazz Caracas. |
